Every first Thursday of the month, we will showcase the month’s Featured Project! Today, we will take you on a brief picture tour of “Snack in a Sack,” an actual Kidz RAP event. This project is very similar to the March "Breakfast in a Bag" featured project. You can view our other monthly Featured Projects HERE.
This fun, hands-on project has been used at both Little Rock Christian Academy and The Church at Rock Creek in Little Rock, and both groups agree it is a Kidz RAP favorite! The general idea of the project is for the participating Kidz RAP group to assemble bags of healthy goodies for their recipients in need. While the group pictured below chose to assemble healthy snacks, another great option is to create “Breakfast in a Bag,” using oatmeal and other related breakfast ingredients. For instructions on Breakfast in a Bag, click HERE.

Momz and kidz decorated the preprinted “You Matter to God” cards using crayons, markers, and stickers. These cards accompanied the snack bagz that were delivered to the recipients.

The “You Matter to God” cards add a personal touch to the snack bagz for the recipients.

An assembly line with all the ingredients lined tables in the school cafeteria. The kidz love this hands-on element of the project as they measure out the ingredients for each sack, like following a real recipe!

At the end of each assembly line was a box waiting and ready to be filled with the snack bagz, so at the end of the event, the boxes were ready for distribution.
At this particular event pictured, the Kidz RAP group filled 1500 bagz in one afternoon event! Snack bagz were distributed to the Arkansas Rice Depot for tornado victims, and to The Stewpot and The Church at Rock Creek homeless ministries. The Rice Depot actually called on their local Kidz RAP group to meet their needs for help with disaster relief with the recent storm victims. Kidz can make a big difference!
